Moyesey is a Wolves fan.....

By Paul Berry on Apr 7, 08 08:20 PM

It wasn't actually stated whether David Moyes was one of the 12,000-plus who took up Wolves' offer of an Early Bird season ticket last month.

But the Everton boss is certainly well-versed in the art of watching the Molineux men ply their trade in recent years.

First it was the myriad of visits paid by Moyes and his then assistant Alan Irvine to check out central defender Joleon Lescott, whom he then signed to remarkable success at Goodison.

Then came the regular visits this season from Everton's goalkeeping coach Chris Woods to monitor the unstinting progress of Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey.

And now come weekend reports that Moyes is also casting a beady eye on Molineux man-of-the-moment Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Joking aside, it is surely a sign of Moyes' managerial prowess that he thinks so long and hard about potential signings before splashing the cash, and as proved with Lescott, it's an approach that pays dividends.

And from Wolves' point of view, any interest in Hennessey and Ebanks-Blake is merely a sign that Mick McCarthy's team are certainly doing something right in their development of young players, whether home grown or brought in from elsewhere.

It remains almost impossible to believe that the continually unflustered Hennessey hadn't made a senior appearance for anyone just 14 months ago.

Nor that Ebanks-Blake would make such a quickfire and almost season-galvanising impact since checking in from Plymouth in January.

As Chris Kamara has pointed out in tonight revealing Ebanks-Blake has now trousered the Powerade Championship Player of the Month award, the striker is probably already worth three times the £1.5million shelled out by McCarthy to the Pilgrims. What progress!

Should Wolves' late sneak into the play-offs ultimately secure a second promotion to the Premier League five years on from the first, then they can happily hang on to the likes of Hennessey and Ebanks-Blake.

Should they not, then it just might be that the vultures will come circling after all, such is footballing life.

But what price Hennessey and Ebanks-Blake? Go on, what would you be asking for?!!!!
