Starlings, Air Hockey and Harry Ramsdens
1. What has happened to Blackpool?! Not the place I remember from a few years ago. The front resembles a building site and is as tacky as tacky can be. Must be the cheap flights elsewhere that have launched its decline.
2. Having said that, there was a fantastic early evening sunset to enjoy. Not to mention an incredible flock of starlings producing a better show than anything at the Winter Gardens. You can't argue with nature.
3. The game of 'Air Hockey' is alive and well. As are all the varieties of Blackpool Rock.
4. Even Harry Ramsden's now has a Polish workforce. And £7.69 for standard Fish and Chips? Nice enough but doubt I'll be able to get that through expenses.
5. The old-fashioned football ground and those that patrol it. One side of the ground resembles little more than a subbuteo stadium, another is a car park. And the dear old chap giving out the team-sheets must have been at least 94, God love him. Tea and biscuits at half time. Marvellous.
6. The game? Oh yes the game. Dreadful first half, far more entertaining second. Wolves perhaps deserved to win but didn't. In the current circumstances one point really isn't enough. As the play-offs start to move further from view both in terms of points and teams in the way that elusive "run" is going to have to start pretty damn quick. Otherwise it's back to Blackpool next season.
