Rovers return

By Chris Lepkowski on Nov 2, 08 08:26 AM

Back after a few days off but couldn't help notice a case of same-old, same-old about Albion.

- Still not winning games they should be. They need to wise up.

- Good to see Ishmael Miller carry on where he left off at Newcastle. He has the talent and application - he's now getting some reward.

- Ryan Donk is clearly a talented player but suffering from a loss in confidence. Now would be a convenient time for Abdoulaye Meite to recover from injury,

- Robert Koren had his best game for a long while yesterday. Industrious, energetic and back to his best.

- Jason Roberts didn't think it was a penalty. Speaking to Jason yesterday it was clear how much affection he still has for Albion. Shame things turned out the way they did - how Albion could do with a player of his experience.

- The penalty was harsh. It was a foul, no question, but how many of those do you see given?

- Likewise, Michael Jones' decision to dismiss Benni McCarthy was also a little harsh. Albion were lucky enough to appeal when Jones sent-off McShane in a game against Burnley a few years ago. Rovers have no such appeal - only straight reds can be overturned.

Personally i liked Jason Roberts & let's face it
any nephew of 'Big Cyrille' is ok with me. Just
think he was just another of those players that
got on the wrong side of Megson. Good player though & still looked good yesterday. It was
clear he didn't think it was a penalty, the look
on his face when the ref blew, he looked totally
amazed!
Been to all three of our games in the last week & we should've had at least 7 points. Oh well, 2
nice easy games coming up (Liverpool & Chelsea) &
with Bolton winning we've just slipped into the
bottom 3!
Sheesh....pass me a drink someone!

Hi Daz,
Thanks for posting.

Jason seemed very touched by the piece in the Albion programme and spoke with a lot of sincerity. He wanted to put his side of the story across and was keen for the fans to know how much he values the club - he volunteered it himself
There are two sides to every story but it's regrettable that the saga ended with his departure.

As for the next two games...you won't be the only one heading for a drink

can not beleive the ref yesterday, absolute garbage.killed the game or rather we did when we were so on top,we murdered them.
donk has given away to needless penalties in two games sureley he should be sent to sibieria,is that where barnett is?
will he ever be forgiven for the villa match or is he off with stress.
also not a fan of mcdonalds but why wasnt he named as a sub yesterday?
roberts seems to have chilled out a bit, last time he came here he set up the winner for bullard in his wigan days in the last minute or so and wound the crowd up something rotten.
oh well bring on the liverpool!!!

Hi Burton Baggie,
Thanks for posting. Leon is currently nursing a knee injury, hence why he's been out of the picture. He had a minor procedure on Sunday to try to establish the problem but it's not serious.

I personally had no problem with the ref giving the penalty IF he then continued to be consistant and award for example a penalty on Ryan Nelson for pulling at Millers shirt when he burst through only to hit the post, or even when Jason Roberts pushed Olson out of the way to set up Keith Andrews goal.
I would certainly like to see refs clamp down on the continual holding (not minor shirt pulling) that goes on during corners and free kicks.

As for Jason Roberts, I have a lot of respect for how he has matured as a striker and have a tinge of sadness about the unneccessary circumstances that he left(But he wasn't the only one to get on the wrong side of Megson with similar results)

Personally I would love to sign him in January on a 3 year contract(plus 1 year option)as he does lead the line very well.
