A gesture for Saturday
Sometimes the club could do a lot worse than listening to their paying public.
I had a message from Baggies supporter Ant Bailey this week, who alerted me to an idea that had been posted on a message board.
With Albion currently wearing brand-free shirts there are calls for the club to show their support in the fight against cancer - not least as a result of Geoff Horsfield's recent diagnosis - by displaying the name of a prominent charity during this Saturday's teatime clash against Manchester United.
It's an issue which can affect us all.
To raise awareness certainly makes sense.
Over to you Albion...

Great idea, especially as the game is live on TV. As were playing Man Utd the viewing figures will be extremely high worldwide too. I woud be very surprised if a chairman as astute as ours missed out on an opportunity like this. Let's just hope that the club have their heads screwed on and take the opportunity to show their support for not only a charity but one of their former players too.
Brilliant idea!
Even if we do manage to find a sponser, it
wouldn't hurt to do this in the meantime. It'd
give good publicity for X-amount of games & look
favourably on the club by absolutely everyone.
Surefire winner in my eyes!
Great idea.... just do it!!
Great idea.
I would love to see it happen.
Chris is Tex ok? He didnt play in the reserve game did he?
Could you let me know? Worried he may have had a re-lapse?
Dave,
He has a tight calf. No relapse - although whether or not he will be ready for Sat remains to be seen.
Should know more tomorrow.
Chris
Thanks once again Chris. Bought the Mail just now and saw it in their aswel! Really apreciate that you take the time out to reply. A top guy. Keep the good work up.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for helping get the idea out...Fingers crossed the club will be able to show the support to a former fans favourite and a servant to the club...Also that they can raise awareness of a cancer that a number of men do not identify before it's too late.
Do the right thing Albion, good luck Geoff.
Ant
Given that To Mo lost his first wife to cancer, it will make the tribute even more fitting on the second anniversary of his appointment.
