Thoughts for a Thursday

So now we know what the real story is involving Albion's FA Cup game being screened at 12.15pm.

Match Of The Day tell us it's down to the Met police, who won't allow 5.15pm kick-offs. Unless of course Arsenal happen to be playing Middlesbrough, as they will be this Saturday. At 5.15pm. You can read more on this in Friday's Birmingham Mail.

Changing the subject, I've been covering Albion for seven years now yet some things never fail to amaze me.

Take Neil Warnock.

It seems the Battle of Bramall Lane is a distant memory for our Neil, who said about Albion: "They have a lovely stadium, a love atmosphere in which to play, a good club.

"I have always liked West Bromwich Albion apart from a period when I didn't the the manager much. [who could he mean?]

"They are the best football team in our division and if they don't go up it will only be through their own fault."

Warnock being nice about Albion - whatever next? At this rate he'll be saying Boing Boingl Baggies Baggies in a pseudo-comedy, fake Black Country accent.

But then not even Neil Warnock would stoop to such mockery of Albion surely?

Once again the Police have branded us as trouble all because the west Bromwich Police football liason officer thinks that way. I was at the Coventry match sitting in the Smethwick end and lets not get over dramatic but the police reminded me of 70's style hit and charge tactics, they escalated a potential problem into a problem. My wife is not a regular football go'er and I talked her into going for the tradition pint before the match and was shocked to see 3 policemen walk in like 3 John Waynes ready for the shoot out in the saloon. Yes I have made complaints but you cannot complain about tactics/style of policing (bet you didn't know that)anyway it's gona be a good day even if were're classed by some mindless officials as trouble (ask Darby fans if we enjoyed each other)

rant over

Boing Boing Baggies Baggies.....

Neil Warnock is a top manager, a top tactician and a top stylist. Not like Tony 'effective long ball' Mowbray.I don't think it's the Albion fans the police are worried about, it's Paul Robinson, that's why they game has an early kick off

Nice one Chris, I love your articles, keep up the good work. I am currently building your new offices and will gladly sort you out with a good desk and a superb view of 'Fort Hawthorns' (in exchange for a Wembley Final ticket!) get my number from Ian Rdle. I think he will find that funny.

He might not, but I guess you're referring to that crock of you know what the Express and Dingle, based in Wolverhampton. They, are a bloody disgrace. Dingles pandering to dingles.
