Albion's six of the best... and Hartson

1, 4, 10, 11, 20, 41

Not so much this Saturday's lottery numbers, but the positions taken by Albion players in FourFourTwo's list of best Football League players.

Kevin Phillips was top, with Jonathan Greening fourth, just behind Andy Gray and Michael Kightly.

Zoltan Gera and Robert Koren were 10th and 11th respectively, while Paul Robinson sneaked in at No.20. Filipe Teixeira - who was on crutches at the training ground this morning, ahead of the scan on his knee - completing Albion's half a dozen at 41.

*I've resisted the urge to make any comments or jokes about John Hartson's potential managerial appointment at East Stirling. After all, you wouldn't expect Hartson to take over as fitness coach would you?

But, let's say, you're the manager of a team in a higher division and East Stirling wished to take one of your players on loan.

Would you allow your player to be 'managed' by someone who recently claimed that he had no desire to play for the last club he was registered with (despite earning close to £1million a year) and brazenly admits that he 'can't have a burger without putting on half a stone'?

No, I didn't think you would.

Can't believe you're having another go at the Welsh. Hartson is a top player and a fine ambassador for our country. As for all those Albion players being the best in the Championship, says it all. They were the best team last season in the league as well weren't they and choked, like they will again. Kevin Phillips got number 1? Huh? In the over 45s category? What about the lads at Stoke and Watford? They have much better technicians than Albion.
