A postcard from...Sheffield

AMID the euphoria of Albion's dramatic win at Hillsborough was a tale of great vision involving ex-Baggie (and Sheffield United) midfielder Ian Hamilton.

'Hammy', who is now co-commentating for Beacon Radio, arrived in the Steel City only to realise he had left his coat at home.

This was a problem - not least as it was as cold as dammit in south Yorkshire.

But, showing all the inventiveness of his playing days, Hammy spotted his one time team-mate Brian Laws being interviewed in the stadium before the match.

Hammy swiftly made a bee-line for his old mate (who, as manager of Scunthorpe, later tried to sign him from Sheffield United) and duly reappeared with a regulation Sheffield Wednesday coat and looking very pleased with himself.

With opportunism like that, Hamilton should have considered a career up front.

*Speaking of careers, we urge Birmingham Mail snapper Tim Easthope to steer clear of the exploration business and perhaps think about investing in a satnav.

Our man with the lens managed to get himself all muddled as he worked his way through Sheffield city centre's mish-mash of roadworks.

But, like all good photographers, his attention for detail soon drew him to a car plastered with Wednesday badges. Realising this was his best hope of reaching Hillsborough, our Tim set off in pursuit.

So far, so good.

Sadly, the Mail's Super Snapper hadn't reckoned on his game of 'follow-the-leader' taking him up a cul-de-sac and practically onto his new friend's drive.

And, we should stress, nowhere near Hillsborough.

Oops.

I've heard that this Tim Easthope bloke loves going up cul de sacs than the normal way
