Mendis's batting is right out of the Imran Tahir textbook. His first scoring shot was a heaved six off Miller, the total increasing by eight as it was a no-ball.

Your Mail article says Woakes swung it both ways (ssometimes at once). Does this mean that, like S F Barnes, he moved it one way in the air and the opposite way off the pitch? Great series of articles, by the way.
Hi Bob, cheers. Yes I think he does that occasionally.
I don't want to put pressure on the lad but I think he could turn out to be an amalgam of Glenn McGrath, Ian Botham, Percy Jeeves, Malcolm Marshall and Andrew Flintoff.
So you're expecting a combination of extreme speed, dangerous bounce, devastating swing and metronome accuracy? Mike Selvey has commented that he's just medium paced and might as well announce his inswinger over the public address. I think he'd better take another look!
