Two for Carter
Essex 30 for 3 (10 overs). Bopara 1, Walker 0.
The batsmen have had to work hard against good bowling by Woakes and Carter and the latter struck with two wickets in three balls.
Westley on 12, drawn forward, edged and Maddy took a fine catch at first slip. Bopara was off the mark first ball with a single which would have been the run out of Mickleburgh if Westwood had hit with his throw from gully. A terrible call from Bopara. Mickleburgh's escape was fleeting though. Next ball he was bowled by Carter though it's tough to say what the ball did because the press tent is at square-leg.
One thing is certain - Warwickshire have started very well.
Bopara, on 1, survived a huge caught-behind shout off Woakes.

Great blogging mate. Hope you enjoyed your break.
Have decided not to come to Southend as reports say its a complete dump !
Hi Beatie - the people at Garon Park are friendly and welcoming but it's fair to say that the venue does quite compare with Arundel or Cheltenham!
