Morning Brian, can you find out why the online commentary isn't working today please?
Fingers crossed for a draw today!
The BBC have changed the ID of the streaming channel.
It's working fine in media player and through m.yourmuze.fm
Well it was once I found the right streaming channel.
The coverage of this game with the joint efforts of Clive and the Yorkshire guys has been excellent. If possible I think that the 'joint effort' coverage should be done for every game. It gives the listener a different viewpoint and an insite to the oppositions position.
Thanks Paulo but I can't get it to work through media player either. It says it's the wrong protocol. Why have the beeb changed it? It was fine as it was!
Clive and Dave Callaghan of Radio Leeds will be delighted to hear your comments I'm sure Paulo. Your point about sharing the commentaries is well made - I think you'll find that will become more common as time goes on, certainly for the Championship games that BBC Local Radio provides commentary on. As you say there are clear benefits for the listener and to be honest it takes some pressure off the commentator too. Not all the counties' respective BBC Local Radio stations are in a position to provide internet commentaries on Championship games but more have been joining in each year, and most (not all!) of them are receptive to the idea of pooling resources in the way that you've heard in this match.
It is also very welcome when other kindly media representatives chip in with sage observations, such as those frequently offered by our genial host on this site, as I'm sure you've heard before......
Hi Mike,
One thought, would it be possible for the same streaming channel to be used by a county all season?
This is the third channel used over the five days of Warwickshire playing at Headingley.
One great advantage of the online comentary is that most modern phones can stream the coverage, either directly or through a service like 'yourmuze'.
If possible joint coverage with the H&W guys for next Friday's T20 game would be very entertaining.
Paulo, that seems a perfectly logical thought. I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea about the technical end of the enterprise but I'll certainly forward the suggestion on. It sounds like a good idea to me.
So far most station managers have been keen to have their "own" Twenty20 coverage, as often it goes on their main radio output rather than just the internet, and it is viewed by some as being more like a football match in broadcasting terms, ie it is felt that an audience may be a little more partisan. This idea may be revisited in time, but for the moment I think it'll be mainly the Championship commentaries that are shared.
