Hard graft for Knack Pallett

By Brian Halford on Jul 6, 10 10:21 AM

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It's another warm morning at Headingley, cloudy though not appearing to threaten rain.

Warwickshire's batsmen are out there netting on the edge of the square.

I strongly feel this is the match in which they hit back.

The Bears, remember, still owe Yorkshire a big one for 1896 when, in a three-day championship match at Edgbaston, Yorkshire kept Warwickshire in the field throughout the entire first two days to amass 887 and kill the game stone dead.

Warwickshire used ten bowlers with Knack Pallett delivering 75.3-14-184-4.

Part of the reason Lord Hawke declined to declare was so that he could score 166, batting from number nine. The swine.

Funny you should mention Pallett - when you told me about Piolet's bowling style yesterday, Pallett and Cartwright were comparisons I thought of before suggesting Dermot Reeve. Hope you enjoy today more than yesterday! Cheers, Bob

Morning Bob, cheers. Have to say, on the ninth of 13 days away, am getting a bit frayed round the edges!
Piolet's bowling reminds me a little of former Lancs, Derby and England player Barry Wood.

Keep up to date
