It had been raining for several minutes and perhaps it was the appearance of Ashley Giles, hands on hips, by the sight-screen at the Kirkstall Lane End that finally persuaded the umps to take the players off.
Only a five-minute break though and, in a way, the interruption was a shame because it could break the batsmen's concentration. These two have batted extremely well.
