The problem with tall people in Durham
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. There has been a lot of rain overnight but the sun is out and it's breezy so play should start on time. The grass can't be too wet as Durham are playing football and Warwickshire handball on it.
Just been on a trawl of Chester-le-Street charity shops, having departed for this 12-day trip, rather carelessly, without a jacket.
In five charity shops there was not one jacket with arms long enough for a 6ft 1in geezer. Short garments - sports and leather jackets, anoraks and a rather swanky Noel Coward-type cream number which would have added a welcome touch of panache to the Riverside this morning - abounded. But all too short.
The clear corollary: small people are much more generous than tall people.

Oh go on Brian, get the Noel Coward number with an accompanying cravat and cigarette holder, it will add a much needed raffish air to the press box!
Morning Flanders - I was sorely tempted but the fact that the sleeves ended just after me elbows detracted from the air of sophistication.
Indeed the hand-me-down-sleeves-too-short look is quite de rigueur for todays rakish raconteur.
As for the cricket, I predict the Bears top order will struggle as usual, even more so in humid conditions and therefore I think they'll be six down by lunch. My friend is more optimistic, he thinks five.
Hopefully the Bears will put our pessimism to shame.
I'm going to fly in the face of reason and say two.
This is the day the Bears bite back. And take a first-innings lead.
I'll hold you to that Brian.
Morning Almajir. I fancy a few from a certain individual today but if I name him I'm sure to put the mockers him.
Brian you were looking in the wrong area, Durham city is the place for decent charity shops.
Ah - thanks Simon. I'll have a browse there. Hopefully the weather will stay warm 'til I do.
There is one other option. On the ground floor of the media centre there are about 100 fluorescent security-man jackets. One of them would do but, while acceptable at the ground, it might stick out a bit when I'm out and about during the evenings.
Maybe Steve Harmison had bought all the lanky clothes?
