Frauds and grotesques
LUNCH: Durham 97 for 4 (31 overs). Blackwell 19, Stokes 10.
Good session for the Bears. Plenty of help for the bowlers though and, bearing in mind Warwickshire have not collected a batting point since May 4, they need to keep taking wickets and keep that Durham total below 200.
By the way, I went to one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world yesterday. In deepest Wensleydale. What a glorious antidote to the abject failure of the hideously overpaid prima-donnas, frauds and grotesques which populate England's football team.
With a very special Warwickshire connection, this ancient cricket plot deep in the Dales will be the subject of a feature in the Mail some time this week. Every half-decade or so I manage to scrape together something worth reading and I humbly suggest this is such an offering.

I could have sworn I saw you at Trent Bridge for the lastest T20 debacle. We never best good teams............as advised at start of season.
With Ash getting asked questions by you and Mr Boulton I thought something big was happening ?
Hi Beatie - yes I was at Trent Bridge but as it finished early I was faced with the prospect of getting to a very, very charmless Durham hotel far too early. So gorgeous Wensleydale seemed a nice option.
No, nothing big happening. We were just checking the team for today.
Any cheese involved?
Simon - that's not a question a cricket reporter gets asked every day.
Yes.
