Defensive and whipped

Warwickshire were within three minutes of a decent lunchtime position when Botha drove at Claydon and edged to Di Venuto at second slip to perish for 19 (54 balls, one 4, one 6).

That gave 18-year-old Javid a tricky couple of minutes before the break but he met his first ball with a rock-solid forward defensive and whipped his second confidently away to long-leg to get off the mark.

Gripping, competitive cricket this morning. The Bears have much to do if they are to harvest their first batting point since May 4.
