Maddy has played a couple of fine pull shots. Westwood got off the mark with an exquisite cover-driven four.
The conduct of the crowd is intriguing. Some of the Edgbaston regulars can be a pretty scathing lot, not shy of making their views known, but they have taken this latest collapse with considerable patience and have responded to these early blows in anger by Maddy and Westwood with warm applause.
Well done, the crowd. It is, after all, only a game.

yes some of the crowd are very scathing. when maddy got out last night this guy screamed "you prat darren!" he was so red in the face and nearly crying! we all want to see the bears do well but come on...
Aye, I rarely feel sorry for professional sportsmen, they do, after all, have a pretty good gig, but sometimes they are confronted by horrible personal abuse when they are trying their very best and that must be hard and far from pleasant to take.
