Leading by example I see. Nothing like getting your head down.

Westy will get some stick for that. Opening partnerships have been terrible this year. This team is staring to worry me. Quite a bit.

Westwood's shot was that of a man with much on his mind.

Brian,

Not wishing to rub it in because he's a decent guy - but just what are Westwoods batting stats over say the last 3 or 4 years?
To my memory this is not so much a sudden slump in form as a strong trend developing.

If the skipper is now holding down a place purely as a tactician maybe we could try drafting in Mike Brearley - great cricketing brain and nothing to lose in the run scoring stakes. I know he's perceived as a little old now, but we have always played on to a decent age in my family!

Hi, G.W. In the champo this season: 39, 0, 15, 82no, 0, 21no, 18, 68, 1, 13, 4 and 1. To go further back than that I'd need my records back at home.
He has had thin trots before, of course, though I seem to recall his best spells of form coming as captain when Darren Maddy was injured and then under dear old Batch when Westwood was in fine form but was then standing at short leg at Hove when Alex Loudon dropped in a long-hop. Cue extensive bruising of ribs and end of purple patch - and season.

I'm not sure that Mr Brearley woould give up his lucrative psycho-analysing!

Keep up to date
