Ronnie presses his case

By Brian Halford on May 26, 10 08:23 PM

Keith Barker scored a timely century - an unbeaten 103 out of 323 for 9 - for the 2nds against Lancashire at Blackpool today and must be in strong contention to face Durham with the 1sts on Saturday.

Just a word on that hogwash about "match fixing" in the Daily Telegraph today. Sometimes I just cringe on behalf of journalists. "It's a fix," bellowed the front page of the sports supplement. Well, no it isn't. Turn inside and it's abundantly clear that these alleged approaches claimed by a player "who has been advised to remain anonymous" (I'll bet) to a paper which appears to have got giddy following the success of the MPs' expenses story are a whole heap of nothing.

And then there's Michael Vaughan, bless 'im, after a successful career as a player, aiming to build another in the media. "Fans will be shocked to hear this kind of thing going on," he suggested, obediently.

Don't think so Vaughny. The whole story is so vacuous it almost defies belief. It you are ultra-generous and accept that, in amongst all the "was told that"s and "it is likely that"s lurks the vestiges of a grain of an iota of a fact, it is that there are some dodgy geezers in India.

Wow. No ---- Sherlock!

Dear oh dear oh dear.
