Lady Astor's cow
Close: Lancashire 323 for 8 (96 overs). Croft 75, Chapple 4.
Miller struck a third important blow just before stumps when he trapped Chapple lbw for 29. A very even day's play though I suppose Lancashire will be fairly happy with 300-plus on the board and Jimmy Anderson to come.
But it's high time (can you have low time?) that Warwickshire's powerful batting, at full strength here probably for the last time for quite a while in the championship, fired properly as a unit. 500 ahoy tomorrow and Wednesday?
