Bell, like Westwood, perished on the pull. Cook dropped short and Bell (10, 33 balls) top-edged to deep fine leg where Khan took an excellent catch having taken nine brisk paces to his left and several toward the infield.

Trott, in need of a score, marked out his guard in a fashion which, even by his punctiliously determined guard-taking standards, was particularly punctiliously determined.
