A toehold
Close: Kent 374 for 9 (109 overs). Stevens 57, Ntini 0.
124 in front.
Warwickshire kept going in the final session to at least keep themselves in the game. Clarke bowled better the longer the day went and ended with his maiden first-class five-for - 15-1-60-5 so far. His first two wickets came from ropey deliveries but his last three were from excellent balls and he would have had a six-for if Bell, at second slip, had not dropped Ntini.
The Bears are still mightily on the back-foot but if it hadn't been for a gutsy late fightback the cause would have been pretty hopeless.

Sounds like the perfect situation for a long, slow century by our captain.
We need to bat for a day and a half. Rain here in Kings Heath.
Morning Jane. Sunny down here. No help at hand from above for the Bears, it seems.
