A record, some goldfinches and a wicket

By Brian Halford on May 30, 10 12:32 PM

Durham 157 for 2 (45 overs). Stoneman 76, Benkenstein 0.

Muchall, on 60, went back to Imran and was adjudged lbw ending a partnership of 153 in 45 overs which was, surprisingly, Durham's second-wicket record against Warwickshire, surpassing the 66 put on by Di Venuto and Muchall here last year.

Clarke has mixed some excellent balls with some less excellent ones.

The goldfinches in our garden have hatched. To hear their gay chuckling first thing in the morning is a lovely way to start the day. Beautiful birds and the chicks, their full colours still to emerge, very cute as they try to make sense of the big old world.

Rankin has done two brief stints as twelfth man for Botha.
