Warwickshire beat MCC Young Cricketers by 69 runs at High Wycombe today.
Batting first, the Bears hit early trouble at 30 for three as Jonathan Trott copped a third-ball duck, Neil Carter was run out for ten and Darren Maddy fell for four. But Jim Troughton (59), Varun Chopra (47), Ian Westwood (55 not out), Rikki Clarke (81) and Tim Ambrose (31 from 17 balls) lifted the total to 308 for 6 from 50 overs.
MCCYC made a good fist of the chase and, halfway through their reply, were ten runs ahead of the D/L equation. Wickets for Carter and Chris Woakes had reduced the innings to eight for two but Dan Blacktopp (61), Andy Balbirie (50) and Ned Eckersley (48) conducted a recovery which put the game right back in the balance. Wickets fell in the quest for acceleration though as Imran Tahir took three for 54 from ten overs and Woakes three for 36 from eight.

Sounds like our overseas star took some tap. 54 in 10 overs? And last week he was hit all over the place by Lancashire's number 11. Is he another overseas blunder by the Bears?
