Leaves on length

By Brian Halford on Apr 15, 10 12:28 PM

Lancashire 60 for 4 (22 overs). Prince 25, Croft 24.

These batsman have added 46 so far, uncomfortably at times with the ball still moving about, albeit a little less now as the juice leaves the wicket. Woakes' excellent spell has ended and he has been replaced at the Warwick Road End by Naqaash whose direction has been awry so far today.

Carter is bowling well from the Stretford End and has had a couple of stentorian lbw shouts rejected as the ball was probably swinging away down the leg side.

There's a decent crowd in, all situated in one quarter of the ground as one quarter is under construction and two quarters not open to the public for championship games.

Town criers were an essential source of information when most people could not read or write. They announced local regulations and goods for sale and helped reunite owners with lost possessions, horses and even children.
