Hard lines Rusty Scorer

By Brian Halford on Apr 28, 10 03:57 PM

Tea: Warwickshire 274 for 8 (77 overs). Woakes 75, Carter 59.

Tremendous effort by these two in fairly ordinary light in the last half-hour. They have so far added 99, a record for Warwickshire's ninth wicket against Hampshire, surpassing the 88 by Rusty Scorer and Gerard Rotherham at Edgbaston in 1922.

Just ten more runs required for a first-innings lead. Not bad from 68 for 6.

The rain dancers have, presumably, taken a break and may even be hoping for fine weather tomorrow.

Looks as if Woakes is shaping up to be to Hampshire what Carberry is to Warwicks.

Go on Woaksey and Carts!

Was there really a cricketer called Rusty Scorer?

Hi Sorrento - it's a bit grey. Light could be an issue after tea.
Yes, Anonymous, there was indeed. And he was quite a character, long after his playing days organising celebrity matches at Edgbaston to raise funds during the Second World War.
