Glorious in the lanes

By Brian Halford on Apr 11, 10 11:10 AM

Good morning ladies and gentlemen.

It's another truly beautiful morning, the third in succession. Is the entire 2010 championship season to be played in glorious sunshine as Mother Nature sends out a fulsome message to the ECB: "Leave the county championship alone"?

Perhaps, to enhance her case, she will deliver ceaseless rain in June.

Debate is raging in the Raglan Stand. What will the new stand be called? The Colin Povey stand ?

The Batch Stand.

The Genghis Khan Pavilion

Clive Eakin of the BBC suggests: "The Clive Eakin Pavilion" (I think he might be having a laugh there). Chris Waters of the Yorkshire Post suggests "The Fred Trueman Pavilion".
On a serious note, I would go for "The Percy Jeeves Pavilion" in honour of a brilliant young Warwickshire cricketer who gave his life for his country at High Wood in 1916.

Surely the Woolmer Pavilion.

Interesting suggestions chaps. We are considering K.D.Smith, Dennis Amiss, Yogi Ferreria, Geoff Tedstone, Frank Foster or the Jungle Jim Stand in honour of the loyal bear fan who bares his legs on all grounds in all weathers.
