Dougie Brown takes eight

By Brian Halford on Apr 8, 10 01:11 PM

Warwickshire v Yorkshire at Edgbaston, 1995.
Yorkshire 96 and 185
Warwickshire 449
Warwickshire won by an innings and 168 runs.

Choosing to bat first on a decent track Yorkshire were skittled by Allan Donald (5 for 21) and Dougie Brown (4 for 35), Richard Blakey top-scoring with 18. Nick Knight then underpinned a hefty Bears reply with 91, falling just short of a maiden century for his new county when he was caught out by a sheep farmer. Keith Piper, with 90 as nightwatchman, and Trevor Penney, 51, earned the Bears a lead of 353 (34 no balls).

Martyn Moxon and Michael Vaughan added a century opening partnership in Yorkshire's second innings but after a Donald lifter left Moxon with a broken thumb the innings disintegrated. Vaughan fell for 65 to Munton, who finished with 4 for 63, and Brown took another took to finish with 8 for 59 in the match as the visitors collapsed from 179 for 2 to 185 all out in the space of five overs and were beaten inside three days.

AA Jones was one of the umpires.
