Two breakthroughs

By Brian Halford on Apr 29, 10 11:18 AM

Hampshire 23 for 2 (10 overs). Benham 6, McKenzie 0

The first breakthrough arrived when Woakes got one to nip away and Adams' tortuous, nine-over, runless occupation of the crease ended with a catch to Ambrose.

Then came the big wicket. Carberry, on 14, fenced at Carter and Maddy took a sharp catch in the cordon. Warwickshire's catching has been very good in this match.

Woakes and Carter getting plenty past the bat. Light not great.

Any new options being muted for the county championship next year ? I heard 3 conferences was an idea. 10 first class games a season for players to develop ! Whilst at first thought it was a bad idea how many games in a Sheffield Shield season. They don't do to bad at producing players. Perhaps the traditional county system is out of date as much as we like it.

Who knows what we'll get next season Beatie. I don't think the status quo is too bad. It's the ridiculous quantity of international cricket with endless fatuous tournaments like the one about to begin in the Caribbean that needs to be pruned.

Keep up to date
