Was Len Hutton clumsy?

By Brian Halford on Mar 18, 10 08:00 PM

Len Hutton scored 105 first-class centuries on grounds in England, Scotland and Wales.

Of these, the highest number, 15, predictably came at Headingley while 13 were lodged at Scarborough, 11 were posted at Lord's, nine at Bradford, eight at The Oval and six at Sheffield.

He scored only one century at Edgbaston - 158 for Yorkshire against Warwickshire in 1939.

Hutton was dismissed 719 times in first-class cricket: 372 caught, 207 bowled, 94 lbw, 21 run out, 19 stumped, five hit-wicket and one obstructing the field.

Five times hit-wicket seems rather clumsy.
