Ted Dexter makes 0 not out
On November 22, 1961, England's touring team in India began a three-day match against Rajasthan in Jaipur. It transpired to be a rather dull contest.
The ninth match of a tour which began in mid-October, it was played on a jute matting pitch which gave bowlers little hope. After Rajasthan made 268, England plumped for batting practice and inched tediously along before Ken Barrington briefly lifted the tempo with three successive sixes in an over from Durani which went for 26.
England declared on a ponderous 222 for six then Rajasthan's second innings meandered to 155 for 6 from 65 overs before a declaration left the tourists needing 202 in two hours for victory.
They eschewed the chase and finished on 86 for 2. Ted Dexter, having made just three in each innings of the previous tour match, against the Presidents XI at Hyderabad, was 0 not out.
The umpires were S.Bhattacharje and Raghunath Rao.
