Woakes makes history

By Brian Halford on Sep 24, 09 10:45 AM

BAD LIGHT STOPPED PLAY
Lancashire 136 for 4 (49 overs). Laxman 53, Croft 12.

Croft added ten runs to his tally before the umpires deemed that the light was not good enough, despite the batsmen having been in no discomfort against Woakes and Carter.

Woakes, by the way, took advantage of the early finishing time last night to attend Aston Villa v Cardiff City in the Carling Cup. This makes him the only sportsman in history to score two runs in a first-class cricket match and see Gabriel Agbonlahor score a first-team goal in a professional football match on the same day.
