Three wickets in 19 balls
Sussex 148 for 6 (74 overs). Smith 8, Joyce 1.
Hopkinson totally fails to read an arm ball from Botha and falls lbw for 1. Six wickets so far in the match for the admirable spinner despite discomfort from a longstanding elbow injury and an arthritic big toe.
Hodd's long resistance ends at 33 with a loose shot outside off-stump at Rankin and an edge to Trott at slip.
Sussex need at least three players to play major innings.
I'm afraid all this wicket-taking activity is overstretching this temporarily one-armed journalist so that's all for now folks. Cheers.

Great stuff Brian.
Safe Journey Home.
Hope the arm is on the mend.
Thanks for the updates and insights. That darn chain outside the boarded up Cricketers Arms Pub in Scarborough.
I fancy a trip to Hove next year (did a couple of days that year Goodwin won it on the last day) so I hope Sussex can somehow get the points to survive even if it is at the expense of another potential Scarborough trip.
2nd spot may well be up for grabs now.
Cheers chaps. Great performance from the Bears. I fear for Sussex, sadly, having played like that just as they approach a huge relegation battle with Yorkshire.
This reporter has just arrived in Canterbury, one-armed, dog-eared and feeling a bit frayed. The team, however, don't want the season to end, having totally outplayed the opposition in the last two four-day games.
Well done Bears. The dawn is lightest before the sunrise.
