Rankin, Smith, Jesty, Asif Din

By Brian Halford on Sep 23, 09 03:33 PM

TEA: Lancashire 44 for 2 (17 overs). Loye 12, Laxman 0.

At 44 for 1, Lancashire were inching their way towards control but Rankin dug one into Smith's ribs and Westwood took a superb catch diving full-length at short leg.

Smith out for 23. Rankin 8-2-17-1. Westwood's 11th catch of the season.

Miller bowled two promising overs just before the interval.

Trevor Jesty is umpiring, perhaps reflecting mellowly on the time that, as a Lancashire player, when Warwickshire visited Old Trafford in the championship in 1988, he brilliantly ran out Asif Din with a direct hit from third man.
