Painful end to great knock
Warwickshire 176 for 2 (24 overs). Troughton 31, Ambrose 8.
Carter reached his second one-day century from 64 balls with 13 fours and sixes. He faced two more balls then suffered a back spasm and, after prolonged treatment from brilliant physio Gerhard Mostert, had to retire hurt on 103. Carter was warmly applauded by a large crowd as he hobbled off unaided but clearly in discomfort no doubt exacerbated by having such a terrific innings truncated in that way.
Predictably, a bit more serene since Carter departed. Nine runs in three overs from spinners Ferley and Tredwell.
