Well done, Lancashire

By Brian Halford on Sep 24, 09 08:26 AM

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is cloudy in Manchester but dry and there should be plenty of cricket today.

Interesting to read from Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson that "the team will be playing plenty of cricket away from Old Trafford in 2011 with the re-orientation of the square and, in an ideal world, will play two or three Championship games at one venue and then spread the rest around."

"Liverpool has recently been the best-equipped of our out-grounds for hosting first-class cricket," he adds. "But we are also tracking a new site at Westhoughton, which looks very impressive at this early stage. It's really good to have new options, not only for first-team matches, but for the seconds where we make a massive investment only to see many matches washed out."

How nice to see a club, faced with major redevelopment of their ground, use it as a catalyst to take first-team cricket out and about among their supporters.

Can I thank you for a great seasons blogging. Have enjoyed reading it all year and catching up at the cricket.

Went over to New Road last night and the natives were not happy campers.

Lets hope the Bears have a better day tomorrow. If we lose there we have still had a better season than what I expected.

Can we please sign our overseas player early for next season, I think we all saw what a difference it made this season when it happened.

Thanks Beatie80. I get the feeling they will hold fire on overseas players until they know who they have managed to sign from other counties. So the overseas card could be played (if at all) later rather than sooner.

What a brilliant idea from lancashire!

Can I add my thanks for the blog and your work in hard copy this season, Brian.

Id have been able to add it in person but HSBC thought it was a good idea, today, to cancel old my debit card before Id recieved my new one. I only realised this after I had put £60 of petrol in the car for the trip to Old Trafford. Rendered totally unable to pay by my bank's thoughtfulness, I am in the midst of some embarrassing local difficulties.

Cheers Kim. Hard lines. Charming institutions, banks!
