Driffield Town Hall

By Brian Halford on Sep 9, 09 04:08 PM

Sussex 226 for 7 (78 overs). Joyce 102, Rayner 0

Joyce completed a superb, chanceless century from 195 balls with 12 fours. His partnership of 32 in 13 overs with Martin-Jenkins was just started to irritate the Bears when the latter, on 12, went for a big drive at Tahir and Trott took a good low catch at slip.

Chawla got off the mark by sweeping his third ball, from Botha, over the pavilion for six. He chipped his fourth to short mid-wicket where Bell took a brilliant catch, right-handed at full stretch inches from the ground.

The pitch inspector has given the pitch a clean bill of health. But it is dry and spin-friendly.
