Challenging but not insurmountable
Warwickshire 283 for 6 (40 overs). Botha 15, Woakes 1.
Ambrose was caught at deep mid-wicket for a punchy 46 from 50 balls, Westwood fell lbw reverse-sweeping for 9, Clarke, on 15, lapped Mahmood high to fine leg and the innings had lost a bit of momentum until Botha lifted Cook over point for six and to wide long off for four in a final over which brought 15 runs.
Woakes ended with a canny run-a-ball one not out.
A hefty total, certainly, but Kent are not out of this. There is a very short boundary on the lime tree side, it's a good batting track, Kent have some talented batsmen and the Bears are bowler down with Carter having hurt his back.

Loved the blog on the soul of cricket, Brian. Three great days at Hove totally restored my faith. Great club, great fans, great fun.
Cheers Kim. Yes, it would be a big pity if Hove was to fall off the Bears' fixture list next season. As you say, just a great cricket venue.
Sadly, the way Sussex played against Warwickshire reminded me of Warwickshire towards the end of 2007: resigned and in terminal freefall.
