A big wicket just before lunch. Clarke was batting fluently and scoring quickly when he laid back to cut Wainwright and bottom-edged to Brophy.

Carter off the mark with a contemptuous flick through mid-wicket for four off Pyrah but missed a risky attempt to pull the next ball and twice played and missed at Wainwright in the last over before lunch. Nervy.

133 for two from 32 overs in the session was a good effort by Warwickshire but yesterday's collapse means they still have much work to do to relieve the pressure.
