Clarke 2-2-0-1

By Brian Halford on May 6, 09 12:38 PM

Yorkshire 93 for 1 (26 overs). Sayers 30, Vaughan 0.

Rudolph reached 50 from 67 balls with his ninth four, hoisted straight off the 12th delivery bowled by Patel. He then slogged the spinner for another four. Patel's first spell: 4-0-18-0

Clarke started with a maiden from the Pavilion End and broke through with his eighth delivery. It was an excellent one too as the ball jagged away from Rudolph (62, 78 balls) who gloved it to Ambrose.

Clarke's second ball to Vaughan was a fast, straight bouncer which had the batsman swaying hurriedly out of the way.

Two pigeons are circling gaily above Tony Frost who is swinging his arms about, as if warming-up, at point.

Michael Vaughan got terribly lost when leaving the Yorkshire viewing area. He walked down the centre steps of the Calthorpe stand, realising he had no way out he tuned and retreated up the steps, turned to his right and all spectators in the back row stood to allow him access to the stairs. He made it to the crease and was lucky not to be timed out.

Hi Jane. Thanks. Yes, some of the press got very excited about that, one of them actually going round to the Pavilion End to find out the details! Strange how an entirely mundane incident, when attached to a "celebrity", evokes fascination.
