Bell and Frost get into a pickle

By Brian Halford on May 7, 09 02:21 PM

Yorkshire 425 for 2 (132 overs). Sayers 159, McGrath 160.

Patel was thumped for 6-4-4 and out of the attack by McGrath. The second four brought an indication that the Bears are wilting in the field. Bell and Frost chased the ball out to the Hollies Stand boundary and got into a pickle and Bell ended up over the rope, as did the ball.

Bell and Trott are now bowling.

The ECB have just issued a press release.

"Ahlya Fateh, the Managing Editor of Tatler Magazine, has been appointed by the England and Wales Cricket Board to help shape the image of the England women's cricket team.
"Ms Fateh, 38, will head up a group of three who will work with ECB staff to look at ways of promoting and marketing the England team, which recently won the ICC Women's World Cup in Australia.
Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman, said: 'I am delighted that someone of Ahlya's experience, knowledge and undoubted talent has agreed to work with and advise the ECB on how best to adapt to this fast growing area of cricket.'
Ms Fateh added: 'It is an extremely exciting project and I am thrilled at the prospect of helping the England women's cricket team. I am a big cricket fan - I have lived with it all my life as my father is a huge follower of the game.
'It will be interesting to see what someone from outside the game can bring to the table in terms of ideas and direction.'
In the next few weeks Ms Fateh will select two other people to work with her on this project.
Giles Clarke added: 'Our women's team have great commercial and marketing potential. What is important though is that we have a professional, effective and structured approach and there is no doubt that Ahlya will ensure that is the case and will help take the women's team and, indeed the women's game, to new levels of interest and exposure.''

Our women's team has done brilliantly. Can somebody please save them from Giles Clarke and his ceaseless quest to pursue "great commercial and marketing potential"?

Has Patel been any good? I hope that he's a victim of the pitch and his recent arrival...

Your ethical question was of course a hypothetical one?

Emmental is a very fine cheese. It deserves better than "reformed turkey".

Hi Ian. Ah thank you. Must try Emmental.
Tough to judge Patel. He's been tidy (until McGrath got at him) but, on a great batting wicket and in a strong wind, it can't be much fun for a spinner out there.
Perhaps best to reserve judgment until it's a more even contest between bat and ball.
