A question of balance
Part of the reason for the small crowd here is no doubt the £20 admission charge. Also it's cold and windy and the game is on telly and there's also a big football match on tonight but, in the light of disappointing attendances at other grounds so far in this year's Twenty20, the question has to be asked: Has the concept peaked, popularity-wise?
And is it wise - or completely barmy - to schedule two T20 tournaments, one of which will force counties (several of which have already expressed unhappiness at the concept) to include overseas players hired exclusively for TV purposes, next season?
One tournament, along the present lines, is just about right, surely.
