Windmill operator

By Brian Halford on Apr 29, 09 11:03 AM

Jeetan Patel, passport safely back in his possession, is in the air and will land in Birmingham tomorrow afternoon.

Ian Bell has not been selected for the first Test against West Indies.

Intriguing quote this morning from Geoff Miller on Bell.

"We need to get him even more passionate about playing," Miller said.

Passionate. This from a man who accepted the job of chairman of selectors on the condition that it did not impinge on his after-dinner speaking engagements.

Bopara's passion shone out of this quote onhis seelection I thought

"I am obviously very happy but a little disappointed in having to leaving Punjab in the middle of the campaign."

I think the statement says more about Geoff Miller than Ian Bell.
To people who, like me, just know Ian from seeing him play and from television, he would come across as a polite, reserved individual on the outside, but one who, inwardly, is deeply passionate about his cricket.
That our chairman of selectors can only see the superficial is a wee bit worrying.
