Exciting
Welcome to an exciting new initiative, the inaugural Birmingham Mail Cricket Blog Exciting Missing Word Competition.
Simply guess the word that has, using the latest technology, been blanked out of the following reflection by Jim Troughton upon Warwickshire's recent championship game against Somerset at Taunton.
"On the first day it was quite ****** and Belly batted magnificently."
Get your thinking caps on. First correct answer will earn a choice from three exciting prizes:
1. Walsall v Hereford United (January 24, 2009) ticket stub.
2. Tranmere Rovers v Walsall (December 28, 2008) ticket stub.
3. Copy of "Past Imperfect - the history of Lincoln City".
Terms and condtions apply.

Gosh, this is exciting.
The word has to be - cosmic!
Jim, being of theatrical descent, would appreciate the play on words, you see. First day, "Let there be Light", cosmic, Belly's batting, out of this world, heavenly, cosmic.
Can't be anything else - I claim my ticket stub.
"Gloomy"?
Jim said,****** Unreal
Has to be "groovy"
Tricky sticky. How soon before you put us out of our misery.
I like "groovy".
Jim fielding at point wearing sandals and smoking a joint, yeah man - groovy!
I'm reconsidering my entry.
"Kitsch"? - just what an arty type like Jim would say when confronted with Taunton, I feel.
Nothing as prosaic as "sporty" or "lively" I hope
bouncy
Mellow?
My entry for the missing word competition is: pusillanimous.
My preferred prize is: Tranmere Rovers v Walsall ticket stub.
(Some of us are still trying to sell Past Imperfect to Reader's Rest).
Yours in sport,
Doreen Notash
Got to be Bright.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for those entries in this exciting competition. Well done to all.
The correct answer is......“sticky”.
So especially well done to Jane - and hard lines. Well done for getting it right with your second answer. Unfortunately, Birmingham Mail Cricket Blog Exciting Missing Word Competition rule 37(b) clearly states that only the first answer is acceptable. And your first answer was, of course, "tricky"
I will therefore be putting the ticket-stubs on e-bay with the proceeds going to charity.
Dam and blast it, I have never won one of your quizzes. I think terms and conditions should be clearly listed before we post. I claim my prize.I shall consult my legal team.I would have claimed no 3 the to read all about Graham Taylor.
My legal team (Kim)he says its some rule that rule 37(b). He says you will know what he is talking about.
Kim also said is this the same rule 37(b) that you tried to apply 2 seasons ago at Old Trafford?
No. That was rule 24(c).
Very funny. I can actually remember you saying it was 23(F) and everyone knows how my memory is.
