"Blackbird, I'll Have 'Ee"
The sun is shining in Taunton.
Heavy rain is expected tonight but, a glimmer of hope, the weather forecast for the rest of the week is improving.
Somerset's victory song, by the way, is The Wurzels' classic 'Blackbird, I'll Have 'Ee'.
I think Warwickshire should hit back with their own rendition of The Wurzels' catchy cover version of 'Don't Look Back In Anger'. Perhaps on the pavilion balcony before play starts tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I could use some advice. I have been invited by the ECB to vote (somewhat bizarrely, in April) for the "Men's England Player of the Year 2009" .
The nominations are
1. James Anderson
2. Andrew Strauss
3. Kevin Pietersen
4. Paul Collingwood
5. Stuart Broad.
I assume that number 3 is some sort of sick ECB joke. So where should the vote be cast?

Weather looks slighty hopeful now.
I'll take another look later before booking hotel.
Any voucher codes or tickets anyone ?
Well i'd vote Strauss-y for his comeback and impressive tenure as captain though Broad-y has also performed well for a lad. Anderson-y hasn't done a great deal lately nor has Collingwood-y.
As for KP Nuts-y well he is like 40 year old marmite.
Mmm its a tough one but like windy i am backing Broad or Strauss. I think Broad is yet to develop and could be a major player soon.
I'd give it to Vaughan-y. Just to put the fear of God into the Aussies.
Why bother voting the ECB have already made their minds up like they have over the new coach. Shortlist - what shortlist?! .....
But if I was going to vote mine would be a toss up between:
Broad for the 28 wickets he took in the Ashes Series 09 including the hat trick at Edgbaston, where he saw off Ponting, Hussey and Clarke.
But then Strauss's three centuries in the Ashes are worthy of note and who can forget Anderson's 10 wicket haul at the Oval.
But surely Bell's tripe century on his recall makes him the winner.
.....Sorry I was day dreaming again....
Hi Bear Lady - you have omitted Chris Woakes's Botham-like debut five-for in the Edgbaston Ashes Test!
On a serious note, regarding Woakes's selection for the provisional T20 World Cup squad, I hope England handle him properly in the months and years ahead. If they do, they will have a jewel on their hands but to throw him into a high-profile slogfest at this stage of his career surely could do him far more harm than good.
Colly would be my choice but i am biased!
Definatley NOT No.3
Agree about Woakes, there have been far too many young bowlers picked and then spoilt by England. I hope sense prevails and they bring him on gradually, like they seem to have with Broad. If they invest time and care now then this will surely pay off in the future. At least hopefully with Giles, having a little influence he can keep a distant eye.
