A record has been set
Warwickshire 309 for 4 (88 overs). Troughton 140, Ambrose 88.
Fine batting by this pair, untroubled by the new ball. Ambrose particularly severe on any loose offerings.
The partnership is now 189, already a Warwickshire fifth-wicket record against Hampshire, surpassing the 178 by Abberley and Rouse at Bournemouth in 1976.

Rouse must have been batting as nightwatchman to have participated in a fifth wicket stand.
Two great servants of the bears!
Spot on, Sorrento. Warwickshire were 97 for 4 at the close of the second day with Abberley on 19 and Rouse 8 not out as nightwatchman.
Next morning they powered merrily onward albeit against a rather modest-looking bowling attack of Rice, Taylor, Southern, Murtagh, Cowley - and even Barry Richards had a bowl!
