I understand that Warwickshire have made swift progress in talks with John Sergeant and are planning to hold a press conference at Edgbaston tomorrow to unveil him on a five-year contract as their new fielding coach.

I'd imagine those big hands would be ideal to hold on to things. Will he be bringing his partner as I'd offer to lend a hand as part of her induction.

Hi Beatie. Nice to hear from you. The winter is treating me rather like the panel treated John Sergeant! But, as F.Scott Fitzgerald famously put it: "Life is essentially a cheat and its conditions are those of defeat and the redeeming things are not happiness and pleasure but the deeper satisfactions that come out of struggle."
That thought comes in handy during a cricket season, especially each time the umpires take a look, detect a dewdrop at deep extra-cover and say they will inspect again in three hours time!
