The Mariana Trench
Warwickshire 48 for 1 (15 overs). Poonia 19, Frost 19.
The two batsmen are applying themselves well, leaving the ball intelligently at times. There is a bit of lift and lateral movement for the bowlers as light cloud has moved in.
Poonia could really do with a big score today in personal terms and is playing with patience and responsibility. Frost has pinged a couple of rare bad balls handsomely through the covers.
Maddy has just popped into the press box to see his dismissal on video. He has copped some very good balls this season - and now two on the trot, here and at Worcester. "I've got three innings left this season," he said, "and somebody's going to pay!"
The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean and the deepest location on Earth.

« "I might be naive but I'm not flipping' stupid..." | A step towards promotion »

A big day......... as the lads go over the top for promotion glory.
Can you have a friendly word with the guys from Radio Essex Brian. Some of their commentary yesterday was a tad anti warwickshire ........... I know the race for promotion is close - but to quote a few examples..... :-0
"....there's lots of other sides in the table that are better than this lot they're a pretty shoddy group...."
" ....they look like a side where the tyres have gone flat...........they're one of the worst sides I've seen. There must be something wrong behind the scenes judging by the way they're playing..."
"...it's like the fieldsmen are lamposts....."
etc. etc.
Of course they might be factually correct - but ?
This has already been mentioned on the Bears official site by a few posters. Cliche or correct ?
Hi City End - I've shared those comments with the other guys here from the written press and apparently the Radio Essex chaps are a bit partisan.
Judging by the examples you give, I'd say as well as partisan they are just plain wrong. "Something wrong behind the scenes"? No. Some of the Bears' cricket yesterday was untidy -as it has been at times all season - but I don't think you can fault the effort or team-spirit. In fact those two factors have probably made up for a bit of a lack of quality.
I would be interested, by the way chaps, to hear what Radio Essex have made of their team's performance today. Essex's display in the field has made the Bears yesterday look fantastic.
Are they handing out stick to their own boys?
