George Cadwallader
Warwickshire 267 for 3 (85 overs). Frost 118, Woakes 0.
Trott goes for 81, trapped lbw by a nifty in-ducker from Wright. The partnership: 182 in 57 overs. Woakes in as nightwatchman - a surprising choice.
Frost's first 100 was chanceless and by the time he gave two chances, on 100 and 110, both into the slips, Essex's levels of spirit and concentration had dropped so low that both simple opportunities were spurned, by Gallian and Maunders.
Some of the ground fielding has been ragged too and there has been a lot of poor, wide bowling - some even called wide which takes a bit of earning in the championship.
That's not to diminish the batting of Frost and Trott at all. They simply won their battle hands down.
