Carter finished with 6 for 100 and Woakes 4 for 80. A terrific fightback by the Bears, especially without the injured Martin.
Warwickshire's plan now, weather permitting; to get 475, or maybe 476, and put Worcestershire under pressure from a seam attack with its tail up and supported by the twirltastic Salisbury who has taken five-fors in three of the last four championship matches.
An early blow in reply, however, as Maddy edged a fine delivery from Harris to Davies.

I’m relying on you more than ever at the moment Brian. The Cricinfo scorecard has gone on the blink. Warwickshire are 327/7 Wheelan has taken 5 wickets and Andrew 4. Warwickshire have Frost, Rankin, Salisbury and Westwood all at the crease. Westwood has batted for just shy of 26 hours for his 80 not out. Maddy actually seems to have got 46 before being dismissed for a duck. Confused doesn’t even come close.
Brian. Just how important is that extra run between 475 and 476?
Its psychological Paul; 1532 years ago this Thursday the Roman Empire is commonly accepted to have fallen following the deposition of the Emperor Augustus, heralding the start of the Dark Ages. This was in the year 476. So if you were Worcester you wouldn’t want to see 476 on the scoreboard 1532 years to the day as you go out to bat tomorrow.
