Warwickshire 76 for 3 (23 overs). Trott 19, Troughton 2.

Frost, on 29, perishes in the cruellest way. Trott handsomely straight-drives Whelan who diverts the ball on to the stumps and runs out Frost, backing up.

One member of the press-box believes that, in such circumstances, the victim is not unlucky but, in fact, culpable for not reacting quickly enough.

Is there anyone else on the planet who shares this controversial view?

Its an awful way to get out. We need Tim Ambrose to get half of what he scored last year.

I'd like to know how many run-outs Jonathan Trott has been involved in this season. He must be top of the county averages.
Ironically, he was run out himself when scoring 2 for England Lions recently.

Its a good job we are playing their 2nd string bowling attack. Come on you Bears.

Trotty is a rubbish runner but a bit hard to blame him for this one by the sound of it!
More pertinently, when is anyone other than him in the top order going to show any durability?
And now that Powell and Parker have gone, who's knocking on the door?

It's the biggest controversy since the leg-bye debate!
How many times a season do we see a guy run-out backing up? 3 or 4? And how many times do we see a guy stumped? About the same? So why is one unlucky and the other not? It's not about reacting, it's about the non-striker keeping their bat grounded until the ball has passed. It's about attention to detail.
And I love leg-byes.
And (sea) gulls.
